He is a subject matter specialist  in crop production/agroforestry with special interest in research, development and technology transfer in tree crops production. Prior to his appointment in 2002, Mr. Osei-Akoto was the Assistant Director in charge of crops/agroforestry in the Ministry of Food & Agriculture, Ashanti region of Ghana. He had administered and coordinated a lot of projects and programmes in Ashanti region, including the Ministry of Food and Agriculture/Kumasi Natural Resource Management Project funded by DFID and National Agroforestry Programme funded by FAO, UNDP and World Bank. From 1996 – 2002, he was a Part-Time  Lecturer in Soil Fertility Management & Crop Productivity, at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology, Ghana. He had  served as Technical Adviser on two private Coffee and Cocoa Estates situated on 620 ha of land in Ghana. He has undertaken other professional assignments for Ministries, NGOs and Private Sector Organzations. Mr. Osei-Akoto has had international exposures to conferences, meetings and study tours in some  countries in Africa, Latin America, Europe and North America. He has published a quite number of extension bulletins and manuals on cashew.
